Monthly Story for October 2024

“What is it?”

Handing a customer their receipt, Tanya thanked them, then turned to the next customer. He was an overweight guy in his forties wearing an “I’m voting for the felon!” shirt.

Despite thinking she hid her reaction well, when he set his items on the counter he asked, “Do you have a problem with my shirt?”

Tanya started scanning his items and replied, “Nope.”

“Who are you voting for?” he asked.

“The only actual candidate running.”

“You mean Trump.”

Figuring there was no way out, Tanya stated, “Fuck no.”

“So you’re some socialist more interested in diversity than making America great again?”

Tanya scanned the last item, then looked directly at the guy. “What is it that makes you love that sentient shit stain so much? His pathological lying, his tantrums, his racism, his misogyny, his being pals with dictators, his incoherent ramblings, his infidelities, his constant hawking of tacky crap, his inability to do the adult thing of admitting when you’ve made a mistake, or his utter disregard for the rule of law and the Constitution?”

The guy smiled. “He sure pisses off you woke snowflakes.”

Tanya smiled back. “Just like Harris pisses off insecure manbabies.”

After a slight pause, she added, “Your total is $12.46.”
