Steve’s Story Series Page

Most of my stories are stand alone, but a few are either set in the same universe or contain the same characters. I already have a separate page for my Human Republic universe, so this page will deal with my other connected stories.

Tanya Stories

I have a crappy, part-time job to help pay the bills, since I can’t make a living writing. One day, a customer did or said something stupid, but I held my tongue. But I made up Tanya to say things I wish I could.

Tom and Jeremy Stories

If I had known that I would write so many stories with these two characters, I would have named them differently. When I name characters I usually just pick a somewhat common name, like Mike, or John, or Susan; something simple. So when I needed two names for the characters in “Politically Cynical,” I just picked Tom and Jeremy. But as I’ve written more stories with them, I wished I had picked something else because I’ve caught myself calling them Tom and Jerry. But I’ll just have to live with it. Especially if I ever do a Tom and Jeremy anthology.

A friend of mine once asked me if Tom and Jeremy were me and a mutual friend, because she could easily imagine the two of us having these conversations. But I had to reply that I just figured Tom and Jeremy as two different parts of me. Hopefully, that won’t discourage anyone from reading them.

Mike and Sue Stories

A few years ago, I began a series of stories involving two writers (Tom and Jeremy) who met at a bookstore café to write. I wrote several stories about them, and I still have a few ideas for them, but I also some ideas that don’t work with them. My solution, create a new pair of writers, Mike and Sue.

Felix Stories

Many years ago I wrote “Empty Calories for the Soul” with the main character being a pizza delivery guy named Felix. I thought it was a nice little story, but never saw it going beyond that. Then, a couple years ago I was working on an as yet unpublished novella and I had a scene were the two main characters are interrupted by a pizza delivery guy. I thought, wouldn’t it be funny if it was Felix. So I wrote it almost as an inside joke for my fans. It’s not obvious, just a pizza guy from the same restaurant, but within my creations, I knew it was the same guy. Then I wrote “Explore the Future” which had a pizza guy show up. I figured, what the hell, it’s Felix. I think from now on, Felix will be my pizza delivery guy if I need one.

Jonathon Davies Stories

Over the past decade or so, I have 1/1,000,000 seriously thought of running for President. I know I have no chance of winning; the real reason would be just to show people something better than the corrupt status quo. But I can’t run for President until 2012, I’m too young to throw my hat in the ring for 2008. I really wish I could, because as I write this at the end of 2007 I’ve already had my fill with the current political system. I am so sick of it, I wish this election was over. It’s almost to the point where I don’t care who wins, because I hate them all and wish they’d just shut the hell up. But we’re all stuck listening to them for eleven more months. The only thing I can do is write stories to show people how bad the system is. That’s where Jonathon Davies and his “I don’t have a chance!” campaign for President of the United States of America come in. I guess you could say this is my way to work some things out, in case, one day, I do decide to run.

Lisa and Dave Stories

I’ve had several experiences while dating that I’ve turned into stories. At some point I realized I should link all of them, which I accomplished by making all the names the same. Some of these are fictionalized versions of real events while some are just “This could have happened” stories.
